Massage Therapy involves the manipulation of the body’s soft tissue (the skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments) using the hands in a gentle, flowing massage technique that uses varying degrees of pressure and stretching movements. It is often used for relaxation, improving our mood. There is strong evidence in its ability to help reduce anxiety and depression.
Each session is specifically tailored to your needs and so the treatment you receive will be unique, to you, taking into account much more than just superficial aches and pains.
By carrying out an initial consultation at our first session, I can learn about your medical history, determine how you are feeling and how you would like to feel as a result of the treatment. With this in mind, together we will create a unique treatment to suit your needs. My approach involves working ‘with you' rather than doing a massage to you.
Not sure what treatment is right for you?
This is something we can discuss together in our first session. It often helps to clarify a little what you are hoping to gain from the treatment and your needs and goals. Very often I find that people most benefit from a combination of massage techniques. We will then discuss a treatment plan to suit your needs on your first session.
Some conditions are best helped with a combination of massage and rehabilitation (homework!) and may include stretches, strengthening, mobility exercises and balancing. Each person has different needs.
My treatments draw from a wide range of techniques and may include advanced soft tissue techniques, stretches, relaxation work or deep tissue and sports massage, injury specific treatments and rehabilitation These elements combined will be determined by your needs.
